Covering more than 3,000 hectares, Van Long Lagoon is considered the Red River Delta's wetland nature reserve and home to thousands of terrestrial and aquatic fauna and flora. Among them are rare and endangered species listed in Vietnam's Red Book like the Delacour's langur.

The other award-winning photo, of Vu Hai, depicts a dragon procession on Ngo Dong River in the Tam Coc-Bich Dong area, which has long been a tourist gem in the northern region, famous for its golden rice season.
