A group of South Korean tourists drew online criticism after photos showed them resting their feet on a table and seats in a public lounge at Vietnam's Da Nang International Airport.

A post titled "An embarrassing scene at Da Nang Airport Lounge" was uploaded to an online community on Sept. 16 along with the photos that showed travelers, believed to be Korean, removing their shoes and placing their feet on sofas and tables while waiting for their flights, Korea Joongang Daily reported.

"A few days ago, while waiting for a night flight [in Da Nang], I saw a group of people who looked like Koreans sleeping with their feet on the chairs next to them," the post read.

The writer added: "Another person in the group even lay down with their feet on a dining table. Some international passengers looked baffled, and I felt my face burn with embarrassment as a Korean in front of the Vietnamese staff."

The writer acknowledged that travelers get tired but urged people to maintain basic courtesy in public spaces, calling on Korean tourists to behave politely and show respect, especially in crowded places, Chosun Daily reported.

The post quickly went viral, drawing hundreds of comments from Korean netizens.

Many expressed disappointment and called for greater awareness when traveling abroad.

"Putting your feet up on the table is really unsightly," a netizen wrote.

"I have been to Da Nang three times, each time for 8 days and 7 nights, but I have never been tired like that," commented another Korean netizen.

"Ethical standards and social values are increasingly being disregarded—we need to re-educate our children," another said.

The incident came months after another involving South Korean tourists in Vietnam that also drew strong criticism.

In July, two South Korean female tourists physically assaulted Vietnamese women at a photo booth in Hanoi for waiting for long, sparking widespread media attention in both countries.

South Korea is now the second biggest source of visitors to Vietnam after China.

Industry insiders said most South Korean tourists are generally friendly and law-abiding though sometimes perceived as hot-tempered.
