Flights between HCMC and Quang Ninh Province will resume Wednesday after being grounded for over five months due to Covid-19 restrictions.

There will be four flights a week, three operated by Bamboo Airways and one by Vietjet Air.

Passengers departing from Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCMC are required to furnish a negative Covid test result done within 72 hours before the flight.

But since Quang Ninh is a ‘low-risk’ Covid area, passengers flying in the opposite direction, from Van Don Airport, only need to satisfy one of three conditions: a negative test result, a certificate showing they are fully vaccinated with the second shot taken between 14 days and 12 months prior, or a certificate proving they recovered from Covid-19 not more than six months prior.

In early June Quang Ninh authorities suspended all flights to HCMC as the southern metro grappled with a major outbreak.

Quang Ninh, home to the world-famous Ha Long Bay, plans to open the Tuan Chau International Tourist Area and Yen Tu tourist site next month to domestic tourists.

It hopes to attract two million visitors in the fourth quarter.
