This marked the first cruise ship arrival since Phu Quoc, voted the world's second most beautiful island last year, officially put the port into operation, according to Kien Giang's news portal.
Most of the passengers onboard are from Germany, Poland, Australia, Spain, and Sweden.
During their visit, they will explore popular attractions such as Sunset Town, Hon Thom cable car, Grand World Phu Quoc, and local fishing villages.
On Feb. 16, 17, and 20, the five-star cruise ship Costa Serena is expected to bring more than 5,000 foreign passengers to Phu Quoc.
The island's international passenger port was constructed in Duong Dong Ward with a total area of 180 hectares, including 2.8 hectares on land.
The project has an investment of over VND1.64 trillion (US$69 million).
Phu Quoc, Vietnam's largest island, was ranked the world's second most beautiful island by readers of Travel + Leisure last year, following the Maldives.
In January, the island welcomed over 611,770 visitors, including 124,854 international travelers, generating VND2.5 trillion (US$98.8 million) in revenue.
