A curvy road leads the way to Bach Ma mountain. The landscape is part of Bach Ma National Park, 40 kilometers from the central town of Hue. After buying a ticket at the gate, tourists can rent a car and drive about 20 km to Hai Vong Dai, the highest point on the Bach Ma summit while taking in the view. |
As visitors ascend, the lines and curves of the mountains and forests will slowly take shape outside the car windows. Bach Ma is the only strip of Vietnam's primeval forest that connects the sea to the Vietnam - Laos border. The destination is also home to many deserted villas that used to be the resorts of the colonial French officers and Hue’s upper-class families. |
A group of foreign tourists admire the view at Hai Vong Dai where they can have an aerial view of the Bach Ma area, Lang Co bay and Truoi lake. |

The park boasts 332 kinds of fungi, according to the Bach Ma National Park management. |
Bach Ma National Park has a total area of about 37,500 ha, embracing a diverse landscape and is host to more than 2,300 plant species and 1,700 animal species. There are many species that require protection in the forest, including red-shanked douc langurs, saolas, white pheasants, Fujian cypress, and agarwood. |
After leaving Hai Vong Dai, visitors can follow the five-km trail into the woods to Ngu Ho lake. This is the center pool of the five connected large and small lakes. Do Quyen waterfall is another destination that is 30 m high, and is about an hour on foot from Ngu Ho lake.
