The Seoul-Da Nang flight route tops the list of 10 fastest-growing passenger routes in Asia-Pacific region, according to Routesonline.

More than 2.2 million passengers took flights between Seoul’s Incheon International Airport and the Da Nang International Airport last year, a year-on-year increase of 71 percent, making it the fastest growing air route in the Asia-Pacific region.

Routesonline, a U.K.-based aviation network, used the latest global passenger traffic data from Sabre Market Intelligence to analyze the top 100 passenger routes to/from and within the Asia-Pacific region.

The list of 10 fastest-growing air routes was then ranked by the percentage annual growth compared to 2017.

South Koreans have surpassed Chinese visitors to become the largest contingent of foreign visitors to Da Nang, with more than 1.4 million arrivals in 2018, up 80 percent from a year ago.

Da Nang, home to the annual International Fireworks Festival and a neighbor to the ancient town of Hoi An, has come a long way from a war-torn city to earn a global reputation as one of the world’s most dynamic tourism cities.

Earlier this year, The New York Times ranked the central coastal city among 52 best places to go in 2019, dubbing it "the Miami of Vietnam."

A 15-day visa exemption for South Korean tourists and the remarkable progress made by the Vietnamese men’s football team under South Korean coach Park Hang-seo have sparked a greater mutual interest in either country among both populations.

Among other fastest growing Asia-Pacific routes were Manila-Iloilo, Palembang-Jakarta, Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Jakarta-Medan.
