This is the third time Cambodia has claimed the title. In previous years, Thailand and Vietnam were honored with the distinction.
Cambodia is home to Angkor Wat, a major temple within the Angkor Archaeological Park, recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site.
The 401-square-kilometer park houses 91 ancient temples built between the 9th and 13th centuries. Between January and July 2024, it attracted 584,375 international tourists, generating approximately $27.2 million in ticket sales, according to official statistics.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are regarded as the "Oscars of the travel industry," recognizing excellence in the travel and tourism sector. Winners are determined by votes from both industry professionals and the general public.
