Eye-catching extravaganza
Just in time for the festive season, Sun Group has introduced the multimedia show "Kiss of the Sea," further adding to the appeal of Sunset Town on the southern coast of Phu Quoc.
The show is the brainchild of ECA2, a French production company that crafts spectacular multi-sensory experiences.
Over the past 30 years, ECA2 has successfully developed more than 60 bespoke spectacles across 17 countries worldwide, including game-changing shows such as "Wings of Time" in Singapore, which draws over a million visitors annually, and "The Fountain of Dreams," which has become one of the biggest attractions on Mount Wuyi, China.

Backed by a multi-million-dollar investment, "Kiss of the Sea" features cutting-edge technology on an epic scale.
With a seawater screen spanning an area of 1,000 square meters, this is one of the world’s largest sea-based theaters.
The stage also comes equipped with three consecutive projection domes and employs 300 devices to create a diverse range of special effects, encompassing lighting, flames, water, lasers, and pyrotechnics.
Julie Cugurno, Vice President of Operations at ECA2, said that this now stands as one of the world's largest outdoor multimedia shows, boasting the world's largest sea water screen, modern technologies, and artists from various countries, all of which will give audiences an unforgettable multi-sensory experience and deliver a magnificent spectacle to the island of Phu Quoc.
Jean-Christophe Canizares, CEO at ECA2, affirmed that everyone will love the show as it is one-of-a-kind.
"It’s our latest development and our biggest development so far. When we take it as a multimedia show, integrating the cast at this scale, we have not done anything at this scale. We have cast, we have costumes, we have fireworks everywhere, and you have to like it."
An attraction for the ages
Since its opening night, "Kiss of the Sea" has quickly become one of the most talked-about outdoor shows in Asia, wowing audiences of all ages with a dazzling blend of technology and artistry.
The domes, seawater screen, and aquatic stage create an immersive experience, blurring the boundaries between the show and the audience.
Each spectator becomes a character embarking on a cosmic adventure, both romantic and thrilling. They will feel the warmth of the lava as a volcano erupts and burst into happiness as the characters triumph over evil amid a night sky fills with dazzling fireworks.

While the technology delivers awe-inspiring special effects, artists heighten the emotional experience.
Outfitted in luminous costumes and utilizing a series of colorful props, up to 60 international artists make a surprise entrance from the sea-water stage to perform an eye-catching array of movements, including ballet-style spins, leaps, flips, acrobatics, and more.
Throughout the five performances, the performers undergo a series of costume changes, while the choreography undergoes diverse transformations.
The audience will be enraptured as they watch the ethereal movements of planets within the galaxy or more intense and dramatic moments when evil makes its presence known.
"Kiss of the Sea is a unique fusion of multimedia special effects and artistic performances. Each scene is carefully crafted with distinctive elements, incorporating variations in space, music, and effects," said Charline Munnier, the Creative Director of ECA2.
"The show's concept takes you on a journey through different dimensions, combining poetic charm, a romantic love story, and, of course, action-packed scenes, all leading up to an exciting climax before the audience witnesses a happy ending."
A unique fusion of fantasy
"Kiss of the Sea" narrates a love story between a young man from Phu Quoc and a girl from the far side of the galaxy who mysteriously arrives on Earth through a black hole.
In a tale of love, unity, and wonder, our main characters must rise to conquer the looming darkness threatening Earth and the galaxy.

This unique theatrical concept also celebrates the cultural nuances of Vietnam through its special effects and narrative. The spectators can notice that the names and depictions of the characters are rooted in the five-element theory, namely, metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.
For example, the earth element represents the distinct essence of Phu Quoc. The traditional art of Vietnamese shadow puppetry has also been skillfully woven into the character design, while the setting takes inspiration from the coastal regions of Vietnam.

Beyond singing the praises of everlasting love in 'Kiss of the Sea', the show delivers a message by highlighting humans' responsibility toward preserving nature and safeguarding wildlife from the brink of extinction.
The audience will have a chance to meet characters such as the Phu Quoc ridgeback, a dog species only found on the island, and the dugong, a marine mammal that is currently facing critical endangerment.
Last but not least, every show culminates in a fireworks display. The show has been declared one of the hottest outdoor shows and the new sensation of Phu Quoc Island.
