Indonesia has issued its first 10-year "golden visa" to Sam Altman, the American chief executive of OpenAI, as Southeast Asia's largest economy seeks to attract foreign investors.

He "has an international reputation and may bring benefits to Indonesia," U.S. magazine Time quoted Indonesian immigration director general Silmy Karim as saying in a statement.

Besides the stay, he will also enjoy priority security screening at airports and easier entry and exit processes.

Indonesia last week launched its Golden Visa program, allowing holders to own a residence permit for a period of five to 10 years.

The five-year program requires individual investors to set up a company worth US$2.5 million and the 10-year program $5 million.
