On Jan. 3, a video circulating on social media showed the driver allegedly performing what online users described as a "magic trick" while collecting the fare.
The incident occurred when the taxi transported two foreign tourists from downtown Nha Trang to the entrance of Dam Market in Nha Trang Ward.
Upon arrival, a South Korean tourist handed the driver a VND200,000 note to pay the fare.

The driver received the money with his left hand while simultaneously handing back a VND10,000 note with his right hand, claiming the amount paid was insufficient.
He then pointed to the meter, saying the fare was VND150,000, and demanded additional payment.
Believing the fare had not been fully paid, the tourist took back the VND10,000 note and agreed to pay the remaining amount.
The two notes carry similar shade and can be mistaken for one another even by the Vietnamese. The VND200,000 is bigger in size.
The incident was recorded on a mobile phone by a female tourist sitting in the back seat and later posted on social media.
Nha Trang police worked with the driver who admitted to transporting two South Korean tourists and swapping their money during the trip.
According to the police, the 33-year-old driver resides in Nha Trang and the incident took place in early November 2025.
Police are continuing to work with the relevant parties to handle the case in accordance with the law.
