The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) said the incident occurred on Oct. 3 at the International Departure Hall of Terminal 2, when an officer on duty noticed something suspicious during a document inspection, The Star reported.
The woman was scheduled to board a flight to Kunming at 9:30 p.m.
Initial investigations revealed that she had presented an Electronic Pass (E-Pass) dated July 22 and valid until July 20 next year.
However, checks showed the document did not exist in the system and was believed to be falsified and irregularly obtained, Malay Mail reported.
Following the discovery, the woman was arrested under the Immigration Act and is currently being held for further investigation.
Malaysia saw approximately 1.8 million tourists from China in the first five months of 2025, a substantial increase driven by the country's visa-free policy and targeted promotional efforts.
