A Korean travel influencer in her 20s fell to her death while taking photos at a volcanic tourist site in northern Mongolia.

South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sept. 7 that the accident happened on Aug. 28 at Uran Togoo Volcano, The Korea Times reported.

She had about 90,000 followers on social media and was traveling in the area at the time.

A ministry official said, "It is believed she lost balance and fell after being swept by sudden strong winds while taking photos on the volcano. The exact circumstances are being investigated in cooperation with local authorities," Chosun reported.

Uran Togoo, one of Mongolia's best-known tourist attractions, rises 1,680 meters above sea level. Its crater, 500–600 meters wide and 50–60 meters deep, is dormant and covered with grass and small ponds.

The site is a popular hiking destination, especially among travelers to the nearby Khuvsgul region, a favorite spot for Korean tourists.
