Japan will reopen its borders to Vietnamese tourists Wednesday after over two years of closure.

It began a phased reopening to tourists in June but only allowed in visitors from 98 countries and territories, not including Vietnam.

The country has also scrapped the need for pre-departure Covid tests for those who have got three shots of the Covid-19 vaccine.

South Korea has also ended the need for the tests as the pandemic has showed signs of slowing down.

The country reopened to international tourism on June 1 and resumed issuance of short-term visas and e-visas to Vietnamese tourists.

Before the pandemic broke out in early 2020, Japan and South Korea used to be the favorite destinations for Vietnamese tourists.
