Illegal tour guide investigated after telling tourist not to sleep on bus

The female tourist, who joined a tour group to visit the city of Lijiang in southwestern China, was sleeping on the bus when the tour guide woke her up, South China Morning Post reported.

A video shared on Chinese social media showed the guide telling the tourist to show "respect" while she was introducing tourist attractions in Lijiang to everybody.

After the video went viral on social media, Lijiang's culture and tourism bureau launched a probe.

Initial investigation showed the woman in the video was not licensed to be a tour guide and had organized the tour illegally.

She now faces a fine of 100,000 yuan ($13,862).
