Authorities in HCMC have launched a boat tour at night on the Saigon River as part of efforts to increase tourism options.

The tour run by Thuong Nhat Co. Ltd. will begin at the Bach Dang Wharf in District 1 and end at Binh An Wharf in Thu Duc City.

A ticket costs VND15,000 ($0.64) per person and tours are available from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

To ensure pandemic safety, passengers are required to scan QR codes before boarding and keep masks on during the journey.

Nguyen Kim Toan, director of the company, said the aim is to diversify outdoor nighttime activities after the pandemic and foster waterway tourism.

The city has asked the government to allow in foreign tourists without the mandatory quarantine from this month as it seeks to revive economic and tourism activities.

It received over 8.6 million foreign visitors in 2019, or nearly half the country’s total foreign arrivals.
