Exhibition "The Weight of Things"
Matca Space for Photography will host an exhibition "The Weight of Things" by Eddie Ryan, a design educator and photographer from London who currently lives and works in Vietnam.
The exhibition features photographs that reflect the artist's personal and cultural journey as an emigrant who had to leave his home and adapt to a new society.
The title "The Weight of Things" refers to the emotional and psychological burden that the emigrant carries. The photographs show everyday objects that are displaced, in limbo, or used as symbols of protection by the migrant. They also reveal the subtle aspects of the society that depends on a migrant workforce, such as its laws, beliefs, and ambitions.
It runs from June 29 to July 31, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The event is held at Matca Space for Photography, situated at 48 Ngoc Ha Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi. Entrance is free.
