Hanoi weekend: jazz concert and charity fair

Anticipate an enriching weekend in Hanoi that includes an arts and music festival, an embroidery craft demo, a jazz concert, a mother-child workshop, and a charity fair.

Arts and music festival

The Quang Khanh Arts and Music Festival is a collaborative event organized by ATH Drama and Arts Space, Naco Taco, and Turtle Lake Brewing Company, three venues located in the heart of West Lake.

The festival will feature a variety of artistic activities, including improv shows, art exhibitions, dance performances, music concerts, art workshops, and a farmers market. Visitors can also enjoy food and drinks from Naco Taco and Turtle Lake Brewing Company throughout the festival.

The festival is scheduled on Saturday, is free to enter and will run from 11 a.m. to midnight. The festival will take place at three venues on Quang Khanh Street: ATH at No. 102, Alley 47, Naco Taco at No. 103, Alley 47, and Turtle Lake Brewing Company at No. 105.

Hmong embroidery craft demonstration

A craft show featuring the traditional embroidery techniques of the black Hmong ethnic group from Ta Phin Commune in the northern highlands town Sa Pa will be held this weekend in Hanoi. The show highlights the talent of Hmong artisans who use natural dyes and threads to create detailed patterns on fabrics. Visitors can witness and gain hands-on experience in the embroidery process.

The event is free to enter and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m on Friday, at CRAFT LINK, 51 Van Mieu Street, Dong Da District.

JAZZIS #10: When I Met You

The 10th edition of Jazzis, a concert series featuring jazz and pop music, will take place at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. The concert, titled "When I met you", will bring a music space with disco and pop songs from the 70s and 80s.

The concert will feature 20 songs from ABBA, Bees Gees, Boney M., Stevie Wonder, Modern Talking, Elton John, and many more. The songs will reflect the themes of love, intimacy, friendship and gratitude that mark the journey of a heroic youth.

The concert will start at 8 p.m. on Friday, at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, situated at 77 Hao Nam Street, Dong Da District. The tickets start at VND450,000 ($19) per person.

Then it will be brought to HCMC on Sunday night, at VOH Music One Theater, at 3 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, District 1.

Workshop for mothers and children

A free workshop for mothers and children aged 7-12 will be held as a joint event by VCCA and Kinergie Studio, a dance and movement studio.

The workshop aims to provide mothers and children with experiences through body movement games to increase their understanding, stimulate their imagination and creativity, and enhance their self-identity and confidence. The workshop will also support children in interacting with others, especially in listening, sharing and caring.

The workshop will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, at VCCA, situated at Vincom Mega Mall Royal City, 72A Nguyen Trai Street, Thanh Xuan District. Registration is required.

Mam Xanh Fair

A charity fair for children in remote mountainous areas will be held on Saturday and Sunday in Tay Ho District. The fair, titled "Green Sprouts", aims to raise funds and donations for children in difficult circumstances, especially those who face hardships in studying and going to school.

The fair will feature more than 35 booths with a variety of products, such as handicrafts, clothes, books, toys and food. The fair will also offer craft workshops where visitors can learn and experience pottery making, fabric dyeing, statue painting, and more. In addition, the fair will have music performances, face-painting activities and a lucky draw.

The fair is free to enter and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. It will be held at KaLí at 102 Quang An Street, Tay Ho District. Visitors are encouraged to donate children’s storybooks, children’s clothes, school supplies and old toys at the fair.
