Two restaurants in Hanoi, Chops Old Quarter and L'essence De Cuisine, have been voted among the world's 25 best casual dining spots by readers of U.S. travel platform Tripadvisor.

Chops Old Quarter, on Ma May Street in Hoan Kiem District, secured the 18th spot in the 2024 Travelers' Choice "Best of the Best" Restaurants Awards announced last week.

"When you need a burger in Hanoi, Chops Old Quarter is the go-to spot. Known for its generous portions and standout sides, the relaxed vibe enhances the overall experience. If you're looking for more than just burgers, try their signature steak paired with one of their many craft beers," Tripadvisor noted.

The restaurant specializes in burgers and pizza, with an English menu section for easy ordering by foreigners.

Beyond burgers, their snacks, such as French fries, ice cream, and cakes, are also highly recommended. Guests can enjoy views of Hanoi's Old Quarter while dining.

L'essence De Cuisine, situated on Hang Gai Street in Hoan Kiem District, ranked 25th on the list.

This restaurant offers a luxurious setting to enjoy traditional Vietnamese dishes, including pho bo (beef noodle soup), cha ca Thang Long (fried catfish), Hanoi fresh noodle spring rolls, and grilled bamboo meatballs. Their banh troi nuoc (floating rice balls) is another standout dish.

Vegetarian options are also available. The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Organika in Peru claimed the top spot as the world's best casual restaurant, followed by Cafe Chill in Sri Lanka and Bodegas Mezquita Céspedes in Spain.

The winners were determined based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024.
