Jensen Huang, CEO of U.S. chipmaking giant Nvidia, personally prepared 100 cups of egg coffee to treat his attendees at a special event in Hanoi on Thursday during his two-day business trip to the Vietnamese capital.

During the private gathering with AI experts from a Vietnamese company, Huang took on the role of a barista and made each guest a cup of egg coffee with the help of his staff.

"Is it okay if I act as an assistant?" he jokingly asked the female owner of Giang Coffee.

This was Huang's second visit to Hanoi.

A year ago, he visited Giang Coffee on Nguyen Huu Huan Street and had tried iced egg coffee.

This time, he opted for the hot version, as the owner of the café recommended.

"He smiled and chatted happily when he recognized me. Last year, I was the cashier but this year, I'm here in a different role," she told VnExpress.

Egg coffee was the drink of choice for Huang during this trip to Vietnam.

The café was informed about his request two months in advance, with strict instructions to keep it confidential.

Over the weeks leading up to the event, the café received frequent updates to ensure everything was perfectly arranged. Huang's assistant team even requested that the egg coffee cups feature images of Vietnamese landscapes.

At the event, Huang referred to Vietnam as "Nvidia's second home". He expressed his fondness for egg coffee, calling it a symbol of Vietnamese creativity during difficult times.

Huang also said that he would continue to enjoy egg coffee whenever the opportunity arises and hoped to see the Vietnamese coffee brand gain recognition abroad.

Following his meeting with AI experts, Huang spent the evening to enjoy beer with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, explore Hanoi's Old Quarter, and sampled fried snacks.

On Friday morning, he had breakfast at a pho restaurant on Bat Dan Street and walked around the city like a tourist.

Huang, born in 1963, currently holds a fortune of over US$126 billion, most of it from his stake in Nvidia, the world’s leading AI chip company. He co-founded Nvidia in 1993, initially focusing on graphic processing and gaming. However, the company later harnessed its processing power for a wide range of fields, including AI.
