Four new restaurants in Singapore receive Michelin star rating

The four new entries are Chilean South Pacific establishment Araya at the Mondrian Singapore Duxton, Japanese-French restaurant Chaleur in Neil Road, modern Italian restaurant Matera at The Fullerton Waterboat House and Pangium at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Michelin Guide announced on its website.

In this year’s version, Meta restaurant in Mohamed Sultan Road, run by South Korean chef Sun Kim, has been promoted from one to two-Michelin-star status.

There are no new winners in the three Michelin-star category, which is currently occupied by Les Amis at Shaw Center, Odette at the National Gallery Singapore, and Zen in Bukit Pasoh Road.

The Michelin Guide Singapore was launched in 2016.

Each year, the city’s F&B establishments are assessed by inspectors under five criteria: quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, the chef’s personality expressed in the cuisine, harmony of flavors and consistency between visits.

Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, said, "Singapore’s multicultural character extends beautifully to its world-renowned food scene. The variety of options, from fine-dining establishments to iconic hawker centers steeped in tradition, offers a truly captivating culinary experience for visitors.

"Our inspectors are also witnessing a surge of talented young chefs joining kitchens. Their passion injects fresh energy and creativity into the scene, pushing boundaries and ensuring Singapore remains a leader in culinary innovation."

Singapore now has 283 eateries on the guide, including three three-stars, six two-stars, 42 one-star, 81 Bib Gourmand, and 151 Selected venues.
