Hong Kong film icon Chow Yun-fat was recently seen trying a bowl of bak kut teh, also known as meat bone tea which is a meat and pork rib dish cooked in a broth flavored with Chinese medicinal herbs, at a restaurant in Singapore.

Before walking the red carpet at the Star Awards, he stopped by Legendary Bak Kut Teh on Rangoon Road, one of Singapore's popular dining spots.

Chow was seen enjoying a hearty bowl of the restaurant's signature pork rib soup, reflecting his down-to-earth personality, according a photo shared by the restaurant on its Facebook story over the weekend.

The restaurant has two branches, 154 Rangoon Road and 46 South Bridge Road, and is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Run by the second and third generations of the family, the restaurant serves traditional bak kut teh soup, fresh vegetables, rice, noodles, and stir-fried vegetables.

Bak kut teh in Singapore is typically served in two main styles: Teochew and Hokkien.

Teochew-style soup features a clear, peppery broth with white pepper and garlic, while Hokkien-style version has a darker, more robust broth with herbs and soy sauce.

Chow, 70, rose to fame through TVB dramas such as "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" and "The Bund." He has earned numerous accolades, including three Hong Kong Film Awards and two Golden Horse Awards for Best Actor.
