South Korea's Eastar Jet Airlines on Monday restarted its direct air service from Incheon to Cam Ranh, a popular resort city in Khanh Hoa Province, after three years of suspension.

Flight ZE561 carrying 170 passengers onboard landed at Cam Ranh International Airport, around 40 kilometers from Nha Trang, according to Khanh Hoa news portal.

The carrier will operate the route with a frequency of four flights per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

With the resumption of Eastar Jet Airlines, there are about 15 flights running from the five major South Korean cities of Seoul, Busan, Gwangju, Cheongju, Daegu to the province every day, according to Cam Ranh International Terminal Company.

Khanh Hoa welcomed 900,000 Korean tourists in the first 10 months of this year, accounting for more than half of the total number of international visitors to the province.

A number of South Korean carriers have also announced plans to start direct services to Phu Quoc island this year.

Jeju Air plans to launch a daily Seoul-Phu Quoc service this month, while Korean Air and Jin Air are set to fly on the same route from late November.
