A 25-year-old Chinese man was arrested by police at Changi Airport for allegedly stealing a passenger's bag in the business class section of a flight from Dubai to Singapore.

Preliminary investigations revealed that while the victim was asleep, his wife noticed the suspect taking the victim's bag from the overhead compartment on Friday, Straits Times reported.

Upon being confronted by the victim’s wife, the man returned the bag to the overhead compartment.

After the aircraft landed at Changi Airport, the man was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for his actions to officers from the Airport Police Division, Channel News Asia reported.

The suspect was arrested before he could board his next scheduled flight.

The suspect will be charged with theft. If found guilty, he faces up to three years in prison, a fine, or both.
