Police said in a news release that preliminary investigations indicate the man allegedly molested a six-year-old girl at about 4:55 p.m. while she was sleeping on a bench next to her mother in Terminal 3’s departure transit area, The Straits Times reported.
When the girl’s mother woke and saw the man’s actions, she confronted him immediately, Mothership reported.
The man walked away from the scene and the woman alerted officers.
Using CCTV footage, police tracked down and arrested him within four hours of receiving the report.
He is expected to be charged with using criminal force with intent to outrage modesty. If convicted, he may face up to five years’ imprisonment, a fine, caning, or a combination of these penalties.
