The central beach resort town of Nha Trang is expected to receive eight international cruise ships with thousands of foreign tourists over the next few months.

Bahama-registered vessel Nautica carrying 550 passengers will dock this Friday, Khanh Hoa news portal reported.

The visitors are expected to see popular local attractions such as the Cham's Ponagar Tower and the Christ the King Cathedral before leaving for Ho Chi Minh City.

Two days later Cyprus-flagged Spectrum of the Seas will arrive with 4,000 foreign tourists from Singapore.

Six others with over 3,000 passengers are expected to dock in Nha Trang between March and early June.

Last year the town received over 275,000 foreign tourists, up 11 times from the previous Covid-hit year.

This year it hopes to get 1.5 million.

Nha Trang of Khanh Hoa Province is known for its beaches, ancient temples and high-end resorts.

Vietnam has a network of 2,360 rivers with a total length of more than 41,900 kilometers, and in recent years luxury river cruises have become popular among international visitors.
