Five Asian airlines made the top 20 of Skytrax's 2026 ranking of the world's best low-cost carriers, led by Malaysia's AirAsia in first place and Singapore's Scoot in second.

India's IndiGo ranked ninth, Hong Kong-based HK Express was 14th and Japan's Peach was 15th.

Established in 1989, Skytrax is a U.K.-based aviation research organization that has been doing annual airline customer satisfaction surveys since 1999.

It uses responses from travelers of more than 100 nationalities and covers more than 300 airlines, ranging from major international carriers to small domestic operators.

AirAsia was named the World's Best Low-Cost Airline for the 17th consecutive year.

Scoot also won the World's Best Long Haul Low-Cost Airline award.

The results were announced at the 2026 World Airline Awards ceremony at The Langham Hotel in London on Sept. 18.

Skytrax's 2026 customer survey was conducted from September 2025 to August 2026. The entries were screened, with duplicate, suspect, and ineligible ones deleted.
