Hundreds of Thai police officers raided a bar in Pattaya, a popular entertainment hub, on Sunday and discovered 39 Chinese tourists who tested positive for drug.

The raid followed reports of a severe injury involving a Chinese tourist at the bar on Pattaya’s Walking Street on Dec. 27, according to The Nation Thailand.

When officers arrived, they found around 300 patrons, both Thai and foreign, drinking and dancing in the music.

The majority of foreign tourists were Chinese nationals, Bangkok Post reported.

Drug tests revealed that 19 Chinese men and 20 Chinese women had used illegal substances, although no drugs were found on the premises.

Those who tested positive were taken to a local police station for further legal action.

The bar manager was charged with operating past permitted hours and selling alcoholic beverages after closing time.

Since March last year, Thailand has implemented a permanent visa waiver for Chinese tourists, who now represent the country's largest group of international visitors.
