Truck driver arrested in fatal multi-vehicle collision at red light

Nguyen Huynh Thanh, 29, was arrested by Long An police and handed over to Tien Giang Province police on Friday to be investigated for road traffic violations. The accident happened in Tien Giang.

On Thursday night, three motorbikes and a truck were stopped at a red light on National Highway 1 in My Duc Tay Commune when Thanh hit them from behind with his truck. The truck then dragged the motorbikes along with it for dozens of meters, killing a woman in the process.

Thanh attempted to escape from the scene but was caught around 100 km away.

Police forces in Tien Giang and Long An had deployed teams to find the truck responsible for the accident. They managed to catch Thanh the same night, on a provincial road section.
