Two people were injured after a truck barreled into three cars on a Da Lat mountain pass Friday afternoon.

At around 12:50 p.m., Truong Trung Quy, 49, was driving a truck on the Mimosa Pass on the way from Da Lat to HCMC.

When the truck reached Da Lat’s Ward 10, it collided with a taxi in front of it, before hitting another car. The truck then hit a pickup truck coming from the opposite direction and only stopped its careening when it flipped over.

All three cars hit by the truck were damaged. Two people were injured in the incident.

Local police have taken samples from Quy to test for alcohol and drugs, and traffic has also been re-routed to relieve congestion.

The Mimosa Pass, spanning 11 km, is the main traffic route for southern entry into Da Lat. Due to the road’s dilapidated state, a renovation project for the pass, with a total capital of over VND440 billion ($18.5 million), has been approved by the Ministry of Transport. The project is expected to be completed in 2024.
