"Our marriage with Stepan ended a few weeks ago, we broke up. It just didn't work out for us. It wasn't what we both imagined, so we agreed not to be together anymore. Now we are formally resolving the divorce, but we have agreed on everything."
Simek has moved out of the apartment with the cat.

The story of Vondrousova's pet cat caught media attention last summer.
After defeating Elina Svitolina in the semi-finals, the Czech player revealed that her husband could not go to London to support her in her first Grand Slam final because he was busy at home taking care of their pet cat Frankie.
Vondrousova added that she texted her husband to discuss the possibility of him flying to England to watch her play the final and they both agreed to hire a cat sitter.
Vondrousova then completed her fairytale journey at Wimbledon by defeating OnsJabeur in the final. After winning the first Grand Slam of her career, she also became the first unseeded player to win Wimbledon. Simek was also present in the stands and witnessed his wife making history.
The Sun said that in addition to her broken marriage, Vondrousova is also grieving the passing of her grandfather due to cancer.
Vondrousova withdrew from the Indian Wells tournament in the U.S. after winning the second round to return to her hometown and meet her grandfather one last time. She said he was a big influence on her life and career.

The 25-year-old and her ex-husband dated from 2016 when they were still teenagers.
Simek is two years older than Vondrousova and was a talented young tennis player before having to give up his career due to injury.
The couple got engaged in the summer of 2021 after Vondrousova won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics. In summer 2022, they got married.
Vondrousova is currently ranked seventh in the world.
