Musk, 53, and his first wife, Canadian author Justine Wilson, 52, married in 2000 and divorced in 2008. They had six children together.

Their first child, Nevada Alexander, died at 10 weeks from sudden infant death syndrome in 2002. They then had twins Vivian Jenna and Griffin through IVF in 2004, and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian in 2006. In 2022 Vivian legally changed her name and gender, stating she no longer wished to be related to her father.

Wilson published her first novel, "BloodAngel," in 2005, and remains active as a writer and blogger.

Musk began a relationship with Canadian musician and record producer Grimes (whose real name is Claire Boucher), 36, in 2018, which she described as 'very fluid.'

The couple had three children: X Æ A-Xii in 2020, Exa Dark Sideræl through surrogacy in 2021 and Techno Mechanicus, whose birth date remains undisclosed.

The pair had an on-again, off-again relationship before permanently splitting in 2022. In October 2023 they filed lawsuits against each other over parental rights, with the case still ongoing.

In November 2021 it was revealed that Musk had secretly had twins, Strider and Azure, with Shivon Zilis, 39, an executive at Neuralink, a startup that makes computer chips designed to be implanted in the brain.

The twins were born in Austin, Texas, just weeks before Musk and Grimes’ daughter was born via surrogacy. In early 2024 Musk and Zilis had a third child, whose name has not been disclosed.

Zilis and Musk made a rare public appearance together in January 2025 at an event before Donald Trump’s inauguration. On Feb. 13 Zilis attracted attention when she appeared with Musk and their children at a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington.

On Feb. 14, 2025, St. Clair, a conservative commentator with 1.1 million followers on X, claimed Musk was the father of her child born five months earlier.

She stated on X that she had kept the news private to protect the child but decided to speak out after learning tabloids planned to report on it.

Musk has not directly commented on St. Clair’s claim, but he has responded to a post on X that suggested the author had "plotted for HALF A DECADE to ensnare Elon Musk."
