In a video released last week, two of Figure AI’s Helix 02 humanoid robots were seen beginning household chores by entering a minimalist bedroom and tidying the space. One hung up a coat, another closed a laptop and placed headphones away before both moved to opposite sides of the bed.
The robots then adjusted the pillows, lifted the comforter together, and smoothed it into place through coordinated movements and head nods, completing the task in less than two minutes.
In a blog post, Figure described the demonstration as "an important first demonstration of a future we hope becomes common: intelligent humanoids coordinating with each other to solve shared goals in human environments."
According to the company, one of the biggest technical challenges was handling the comforter, a large deformable object with no fixed shape or clear grasp points.
Unlike rigid objects, the bedding constantly changed shape as it folded, stretched, and shifted, requiring the robots to predict each other’s movements while continuously adjusting grip, posture, and motion.
The system also demonstrated advanced whole-body movement and dexterous manipulation. The humanoids balanced on one leg, used coordinated body posture to move furniture, operated foot pedals, and handled flexible and articulated objects without pre-programmed transitions.

"To be clear, there's no explicit messaging between these robots, they coordinate their actions fully visually, e.g. head nods," Figure AI director of AI Corey Lynch wrote on X.
He added that the video was shown at normal speed and the robots operated fully autonomously without teleoperation.
Figure AI said it trained Helix 02, the model introduced earlier this year, on new data so the robots could perform more complex household tasks such as opening doors, pushing furniture, and draping clothes.
The company did not say when its humanoid robots would become available to consumers.
Figure AI has raised more than $1 billion and is valued at $39 billion. It faces growing competition from Elon Musk's Tesla, which is developing its own humanoid robot, Optimus, according to Business Insider.
Last month, Figure said it planned to increase production of its Figure 03 humanoid from one robot per day to one per hour within four months at its new BotQ production facility in California, as reported by Interesting Engineering.
