First teased in October 2025, the company said the Robot Phone’s "emotional companion" feature can "senses, adapts, and evolves autonomously like a robot."
At CES 2026, which kicked off Tuesday in Las Vegas, the company did not allow public hands-on testing, but staff demonstrations showed responsive and stable robotic arm movements.
When retracted, the device resembles a conventional flagship smartphone with a large circular rear camera module. Once activated, the robotic arm deploys smoothly, enabling fluid subject tracking and stabilization similar to dedicated devices such as the DJI Osmo Pocket.
To accommodate the motors and moving components, Honor has moved away from ultra-slim smartphone designs. The Robot Phone is visibly thicker and heavier than typical flagships.
Tech journalists have long criticized the lack of diversity in smartphone design. While foldable phones offered a shift from the norm, the Robot Phone represents a more radical departure from conventional form factors, CNET noted.
Honor has kept detailed specifications under wraps. The company said a finalized production version, featuring fully autonomous software-driven tracking, will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this March, according to Digital Trends.
Following that international appearance, the Robot Phone will officially go on sale in the Chinese market.
