LinkedIn’s annual Jobs on the Rise 2026 list, released on Jan. 7, identifies the 25 fastest-growing occupations based on millions of roles started between Jan. 1, 2023 and July 31, 2025. To qualify, job titles had to show consistent, positive growth across LinkedIn’s membership and reach what the company described as a meaningful size by 2025, a threshold that varies by market and year.
AI-related positions occupy much of the upper tier of the list. AI engineers ranked first, followed by AI consultants and strategists as the second-fastest-growing role.
Additional AI-linked positions also ranked highly. Data annotators, who help train and refine AI systems, placed fourth, while AI and machine learning researchers ranked fifth.
Laura Lorenzetti, a senior director at LinkedIn involved in compiling the ranking, told Business Insider that the trend reflects growing demand for professionals who can integrate AI into business operations, not only build the technology.

Not all fast-growing jobs were directly tied to AI. New home sales specialists ranked third, while healthcare reimbursement specialists placed sixth.
Self-employed careers also featured prominently. Strategic advisors and independent consultants ranked seventh, while "founder" appeared on the list for the first time at No. 9, with sales executives rounding out the top 10.
"People are seeing that as a way to own their career and own their next step," Lorenzetti said, referring to growing interest in entrepreneurship.
For those aiming to enter these fast-growing fields, LinkedIn career expert Catherine Fisher advised focusing on transferable skills rather than starting from scratch.
"The most successful pivots aren’t about starting from scratch — they’re about translating existing skills into new contexts," she told CNBC. "Spending time thinking about the skills you have and how they might transfer to one of these growing roles can help unlock opportunities for job seekers."
