Jeff Bezos’s fiancée Lauren Sánchez shuts down rift rumors with Mark Zuckerberg’s wife

Sánchez commented "HBD [two red heart emojis]" on Chan’s post celebrating her 40th birthday. Chan had shared photos from the occasion, writing: "Turned forty surrounded by family, friends, laughter and dance. I am so so lucky to be so loved."

The gesture followed a moment at the Jan. 20 U.S. presidential inauguration, where Sánchez appeared to avoid eye contact with Chan. Footage showed Chan speaking with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. while Zuckerberg engaged in conversation with Sánchez, Daily Mail reported. Some critics accused Zuckerberg of "repeatedly" staring at Sánchez’s corset and blazer ensemble, while others noted Chan turned away rather than joining their exchange.

Sánchez’s outfit also sparked criticism. Commentator Megyn Kelly remarked, "Have some dignity and some respect for your setting and your circumstances," accusing her of dressing "like a hooker."

Days later, Sánchez shared an Instagram post hinting at a challenging start to the year. "Some years start with turbulence, but that’s just the wind reminding you to spread your wings," she captioned a photo of herself in a helicopter. "Good to be back in the air... Here’s to flying farther than we ever imagined."

Sánchez, 56, is an American journalist, author, and philanthropist who first gained fame as an entertainment reporter and news anchor.

Rumors of her affair with Bezos, 61, began circulating in 2018 while the Amazon founder was still married to MacKenzie Scott, 55, according to Yahoo! Finance. Reports by the National Enquirer suggested that a shared passion for helicopters helped bring Sánchez and Bezos closer. At the time, Sánchez was married to talent agent Patrick Whitesell.

Bezos and Scott finalized their divorce in 2019, with Scott receiving a US$38.3 billion settlement in Amazon stock, according to Bloomberg. Sánchez also finalized her divorce that year. She and Bezos announced their engagement in 2023.

Priscilla Chan, 40, a philanthropist and former pediatrician, is married to Meta CEO Zuckerberg, 40. The couple, who wed in 2012, have three children.

As of Feb. 26, Jeff Bezos has an estimated net worth of $227.5 billion, making him the world’s second-richest person, while Zuckerberg ranks third with $227.1 billion, according to Forbes.
