Designer Do Manh Cuong is set to do a show at New York Fashion Week in September, his first ever at the event.

The event is scheduled for September 10 at Spring Studios where many big brands such as Michael Kors, Calvin Klein and Oscar de la Renta have chosen to do shows at New York Fashion Week.

Spring Studios has a capacity of 480 and Cuong wants most guests to be able to sit front row. The designer asked for a dress code of red for female guests, and black (if they can’t wear red) for male guests.

This is the first time Cuong will participate in New York Fashion Week. He has collaborated with famous selection experts who have worked with big fashion houses like Prada and Louis Vuitton to cast about 30 models for the show.

The 41-year-old designer is also working with the top makeup, hair, sound and lighting teams in New York to ensure every step is up to standard.

Cuong said that this will also be his shortest show ever.

Pham Huy Can, CEO of fashion brand SIXDO, said New York was a destination that SIXDO has been targeting since its establishment in 2020.

"New York is a center of the fashion world, a dream destination of many brands. The development opportunities are also greater there," Can said, adding that the budget for the show was in the millions of dollars.

The collection Cuong will present carries his signature fashion language: minimalism, femininity and luxury. The designs are somewhat rebellious but still elegant.

There will be many famous Vietnamese artists and celebrities such as actress Diem My, former beauty queen Ha Kieu Anh, actress Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc and VIP guests of the brand from many countries heading to New York to attend the show.
