Miss Dominican Republic Andreína Martínez wore a sexy sheer sequin brown evening gown by Nguyen Minh Tuan to a Miss Universe rehearsal on January 13 before becoming the event's 2nd runner-up.

It was not the first time she used a creation by the Vietnamese fashion designer to show off her figure.

Before this year’s Miss Universe pageant, she donned another dress by Tuan to an event in the Dominican Republic after she had been crowned Miss Dominican Republic 2021.

One side of the asymmetrical red dress has 3D flower-petal-like motifs from hip to shoulder and then slides into a fishtail at the bottom.

Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova wore the same dress as a judge for Miss Universe Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City last June.

Tuan said Martínez 's crew had asked him for an evening dress for Miss Universe 2022 and he sent six designs to choose from.

"I'm glad many contestants have chosen outfits made by Vietnamese designers to wear at major beauty contests," Tuan said. "This helps bring creations by local designers to more international audiences."

Martinez, born in 1997, is a Dominican-American model.

She speaks English and Spanish fluently and has a bachelor's degree from New York University in psychology and Latin American studies.

After she graduated from high school, Andrena Martnez tried out many different roles. She worked for Senators Jose Serrano and Kirsten E. Gillibrand as a law intern. She also works with many non-profit groups in the U.S., including SEEK Program and Women's Equality Center, to give back to the community.

Nguyen Minh Tuan was born in 1992. He graduated as one of the top students in Fashion Design at a local university in 2016. His creations have been worn by many Vietnamese celebrities and beauty queens. He often makes sexy, tight dresses that help men show off their bodies.
