Fan spent a large part of her Dec. 2 talk to VnExpress at the Singapore International Film Festival praising Vietnamese designers she has worked with throughout 2023.

The actress said she has seen a "rise" of Vietnamese designers in the fashion industry over the past few years. Based on her own observation, Fan said Vietnamese designers combined techniques they learned from their foreign counterparts and traditional Vietnamese elements in their designs, making their creations unique, fresh, and sophisticated.
Appreciating Vietnamese designers’ creativity, Fan has chosen several of their creations for public events.
Her attendance in the Cannes International Film Festival in May this year marked the actress’ first collaboration with Vietnamese designers as she donned two gowns by designer Chung Thanh Phong throughout the event.
Fan said she had browsed through Phong’s whole collection before discussing with her stylist to choose two designs from it.
Among the outfits she chose, she was especially impressed with the dress inspired by the shape of butterflies.

The actress has also chosen many outfits made by other Vietnamese designers as she took magazine photoshoots.
Fan, 42, was born in the province of Shandong, China. She started her career in the entertainment industry when she was 17, and is known for her achievements as an actress, model, TV producer, and singer.
She appeared in Time Magazine’s list of 100 most influential people in 2017. The actress has kept a lower profile since 2018 after being fined $128 million for tax evasion.
