Top-flight club volleyball resumes in October in Vietnam and the national U23 championship will make its debut the following month.

According to the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam (VFV), since the pandemic is under control, the remaining matches of the 2020 National A-Group Volleyball Tournament will be played between October 21 and 30 in the southern province of Ben Tre.

It was supposed to have been played in Da Nang, but the central city became the country’s coronavirus hotspot when a second wave broke out, and the Tien Son Sport Center, the proposed venue, is being used as a Covid-19 field hospital.

Teams are expected to rush back to practice this month.

The maiden U23 Volleyball Championship will be played from November 7 to 11 in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong after being postponed four times.

Football also made a comeback on Friday after national events were postponed for 40 days due to the resurgence of Covid-19 in late July.

The National Cup quarter final saw Hanoi FC beat Can Tho 7-0 at home and HCMC FC edge Ba Ria-Vung Tau FC 3-2.

Hong Linh Ha Tinh take on Than Quang Ninh and Viettel play Becamex Binh Duong on Saturday.

As of Saturday morning the nation's Covid-19 tally was 1,060 with 35 deaths.
