How do you evaluate HCMC sports movement over the past few years?

HCMC has always had a strong sports community. People frequently play sports in parks.

HCMC is also the first city to organize marathon tournaments. The city and its organizers host more than 40 competitions annually, including prestigious tournaments that draw thousands of people. The VnExpress Marathon HCMC Midnight this weekend will attract 10,000 runners.

There are numerous other activities that encourage people to strengthen their physical health and enhance social interaction. Because of the intense work environment in HCMC, engaging in sporting activities might help people reduce stress and improve quality of life.

What are the differences between the VnExpress Marathon and other races in the city?

The VnExpress Marathon is being staged in HCMC for the first time on a large scale. Prior to that, there have been a few such tournaments in the city. The midnight race is rather special and it attracts a lot of interest.

However, running at night goes against the natural biorhythm, and amateur athletes need to take the necessary precautions in advance to ensure their safety.

This is a race, but it's also a good time to have fun. Therefore, it is important to maintain good health and prevent accidents. I hope that the organizers' expertise and professionalism will ensure the athletes' well-being.

How do you anticipate the race's impacts on the city's sports?

In many major cities, like Hanoi, Hue, Ha Long, VnExpress newspaper has organized marathons that have drawn significant crowds and athletes.

In the context of the growing community sports activities, I expect that the allure and attractiveness of the race would revitalize and stimulate the sports movement in HCMC and the nation, adding great values to the society.

The city's biggest wish in such events is that they work towards the community's interest. Sports activities have great social values, using local forces, resources, and infrastructure to maintain security and order, so the organizers should pay attention to contributing to the local community.

This brings about a balance of interests, improving the events' reputation and benefiting local people.

Organized in a city with a population of over 10 million people, the VM event will have a significant impact and will be more than just a race in one night.

Do you have any suggestions about the races can bring more benefits to the community?

Some of the VnExpress Marathon's events have been free, such as the Kun Marathon HCMC, which will happen in the morning on February 11. Additionally, VnExpress also has the Hope Foundation to conduct charitable work for the community and nonprofit activities.

I believe marathons should have a longer-term strategy, such as a fund or program for community health development. This activity needs financing sources and a clear policy. If VnExpress Marathon turns the city race into a regular, iconic event, it will bring a sustainable impact and brand value.

The community will realize that behind this tournament are people who care about social benefits and want to help disadvantaged individuals who need to exercise but are not yet able to.

I believe the tournament's status and impact will grow.
