The marathon, which has attracted over 8,000 runners, will cover a wide, straight and airy route, although the start and finish points are only a few hundred meters apart.
The Sword Lake is a familiar destination for many runners to practice every weekend.
From the start line, 5km participants will run from the warriors monument of Tuong Dai Quyet Tu park to the central streets of Hoan Kiem District including Cau Go, Nguyen Huu Huan, Ly Thai To, Ngo Quyen, Nha Chung, Hang Bong, and Hang Gai.

The 10km running route is more challenging, covering part of the 5km, and going past streets that are associated with the capital's history, including the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Hanoi flagpole, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
This route will also take athletes through the capital's most romatic roads, such as Hoang Dieu and Phan Dinh Phung.

Runners of 21km and 42km will follow the same course, with different turning points and finish line. Both will be fully indulged in Hanoi nightlife while passing by iconic places such as Thong Nhat Park, Thanh Nien Street, the West Lake and the Truc Bach Lake.

The 42km course embraces the entire 21km route. 21km runners will turn around at Bac Son monument on Hoang Dieu Street while the 42km runners will turn around at the intersection of Hoang Dieu and Dien Bien Phu Streets.
The two distances will start one hour apart, and runners will experience interesting "meetup" on Hoang Dieu, Thanh Nien, and at Truc Bach Lake.

To ensure the safety of participants, the organizers will set up a system of medical and water stations along the race. There are four main medical stations and 6 mobile stations, 10 one-way water stations, one two-way water station, and 7 portable toilets.
On race day, the weather is expected to be cool and favorable for runners to set personal records. The race would be memorable for those who run at night for the first time.
VnExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight will take place on the night of November 26 and the early morning of November 27. The tournament was organized by VnExpress newspaper in collaboration with the Hanoi People's Committee.
