In his first international tournament in Mexico, Nam (703rd in world rankings) left his mark with a title win.
Facing Hussey (869th) in the final, Nam started the game with confidence and determination. He used his strength, which is powerful serves with high accuracy to win the first set 6-4. In the second set, he dominated to again win 6-4.
The overall 2-0 win after nearly two hours helped Nam win his fourth international title. He also received $2,160 in prize money, along with 10 points toward his world ranking.
His previous three international titles are Vietnam F5 Futures (September 2016), Thailand F3 Futures (June 2017) and M15 Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt (October 2021).
After two years with no international competitions due to Covid-19, Nam has strived to improve his ranking, starting with a series of M15 Sharm El Sheikh tours from October to November and now, M15 Cancun, to be hosted weekly until Dec. 13.
