Nguyen Thuy Linh, Vietnam's number one female badminton star, missed the chance to win Australia's Bendigo International after losing to Taiwan's Sung Shuo Yun in the final Sunday.

Linh was the first seed in the women's singles event and Sung the second. However, on the badminton world ranking, Linh is 57th, one place below Sung.

The first set was intense as both players went back and forth. Linh let her opponent take the lead a few times and maintained a close distance, but made many mistakes to allow Sung out on top with a score of 21-19.

Linh had a better start in the second set and kept a safe lead. But once again, she fumbled it with continuous mistakes that helped Sung to level 11-11. After that, Linh let her opponent score eight points to lead 19-11. She was able to save two match points but made another mistake and lost 15-21.

Overall, Linh suffered a 0-2 defeat to Sung and could not claim her third consecutive badminton title this year, after winning the Belgian International and Vietnam Open.
