Organizers of Spartan Race, one of the world’s harshest obstacle course challenges, announced the inaugural event would take place early March next year.

The race has been scheduled for March 6, 2021 at Hung Kings Memorial Park in Saigon's District 9.

Spartan Race is a fast-paced adventure through rugged terrain that spans five kilometers and includes 20 obstacles.

It is divided into three categories: elite for competitive runners, specific age groups for racers 14 years old and up, and an open for everybody.

Event organizers previously said they expected to attract 1,000 participants.

The race was first scheduled to debut in Vietnam on Feb. 15, but was postponed to May 16 and then Sept. 26 due the Covid-19 outbreak.

Since it was first held in 2007, the race has been organized in 42 countries around the world.
