VnExpress Marathon (VM) Sparkling Quy Nhon 2021 has been postponed from July 4 to August 22 due to the ongoing Covid-19 wave.

The Binh Dinh People's Committee and VnExpress decided to postpone the event because the pandemic situation is not completely under control in Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and some other localities.

On June 14, HCMC decided to extend its social distancing order for another two weeks.

The decision to postpone the marathon aims to ensure maximum safety for athletes, the community as well as the quality of the event, organizers said.

Tickets for the event will be sold until August 1. For participants who have already purchased flight tickets to Quy Nhon in the south central Binh Dinh Province, the organizers will continue to work with the carriers to help them change the tickets (excluding airport taxes and upgrade fees).

This is the second time that the event is being delayed. According to the initial schedule, the run was to happen on June 6, but was postponed to July 4. The latest change was necessitated after festive activities and major sports events were canceled or postponed due to the new Covid-19 wave.

Held in Binh Dinh for the first time in 2019, VM Quy Nhon has been through two consecutive seasons and become one of the biggest sporting events in the province, attracting both amateurs and elite runners in the country. Many athletes have remarked on the beautiful running track, great prizes and professional organizing that enhances the event's attractiveness.

One of the memorable highlights of the VM Quy Nhon 2021 track will be the spectacular views as the runners cross Thi Nai, one of the longest sea bridges in Southeast Asia.
