SEA Games Day 3: Vietnam wins 10 more gold medals

Vietnam won 10 gold medals in athletics, canoeing, gymnastics, karate, pétanque, shooting, swimming and taekwondo on the third day of the 33rd SEA Games Dec. 12.

Dinh Phuong Thanh won gold medal in gymnastics parallel bar event, raising his personal collection at all SEA Games editions to 14 gold medals.

Vietnam's Bac Thi Khiem beat her Filipino opponent to win gold in taekwondo while Khuat Hai Nam won a karate gold with a victory over a Thai opponent.

Nguyen Thi Huong and Mai Thi Thuy won a gold medal by finishing first in the women's 200m canoeing doubles event, in 43.419 seconds.

Le Thi Mong Tuyen and Nguyen Tam Quang won Vietnam's first gold medal in shooting at the tournament by beating their Thai opponents in the 10m air rifle event.

Vietnam also won five silver medals on Friday in athletics, karate, swimming and taekwondo, and 11 bronze medals in athletics, gymnastics, ju jit-su, swimming and taekwondo.

The country has won 24 gold medals after three days.

The women's volleyball team advanced to the semifinals on the same day by beating Indonesia.
