Vietnam's national swimmers have embarked for Hungary to prepare for SEA Games 31.

The team include Hoang Quy Phuoc, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Tran Hung Nguyen, Ho Nguyen Duy Khoa, Nguyen Huu Kim Son, Ngo Dinh Chuyen, Pham Thanh Bao, Pham Thi Van and Le Thi My Thao, along with two coaches, Nguyen Hoang Vu and Phan Quang Minh Quan.

They will train for one-and-a-half months before competing at 2021 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) to be held in the UAE from Dec. 16 to 21.

Vietnam’s number one female swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien is absent from the team, after she proposed not to be called up back in September. Vien said she had carefully considered her decision, and that while she’s no longer young, her form was dropping.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as the Department of Physical Education and Sports have encouraged Vien to continue competing, at least until the end of SEA Games 31, which will be hosted by Vietnam next year.
