The VnExpress Marathon Hue proposal has gone viral on social networks. Dang and Hung said they were overwhelmed with messages from friends, colleagues and even strangers in the past two days after the race.

Dang came up with the proposal idea early this year, and kept it a secret to surprise his partner. On the race day, he invited a group of close friends to come to support his proposal plan.
"April marks our 6 year anniversary, and I want to do something special," Son said.
"Everyone wants to conquer a long race, so do I. I want to 'close the deal' with Hung right at the finish line."
Hung said the moment Son suddenly grabbed his hand and stopped him from running toward the finish line, he thought his partner had a cramp.
"I was afraid of unexpected things, expecially in crowded places. But I reached out my hand," Hung laughed. They finished the full marathon together in 6 hours.
The same-sex couple first met each other in 2016, when they were involved in a project. Son said he was inspired to run by Hung, an experienced marathoner who has completed several trails.
Hung ran 21 km at VnExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight 2020. After that, the couple have participated in several VM races together.

This year, both plan to register for a series of running races under the VnExpress Marathon system. Hung aims to set a PR (personal record) at VnExpress Marathon Hanoi Midnight in November 2023.
