Russian Igor Frolov has joined the HCMC New Group and will compete at the annual national cycling championship this year.

Frolov was a member of the Russian national cycling team from 2016 to 2022. This 32-year-old is an expert in crossing passes. In 2016, he won the mountain climbing contest at Russia's national cycling championship.

The Russian cyclist said that his biggest challenge would be the hot weather in Vietnam, adding that he would need at least a week to adapt and get into form.

Another foreign cyclist, Spain's Javier Perez has already joined HCMC Vinama for the upcoming national championship. Domesco Dong Thap recruited French cyclist Loic Desriac, defending champion of last year's event.

HCMC TV Cup, the national cycling championship, will take place April 4-30 this year with 23 stages covering a total of 2,405 km after starting in Quang Ninh Province and before ending in HCMC.
