Vietnam was honored as the world and Asia’s best golf destination for 2021 at the annual World Golf Awards held in Dubai on Friday.

This is the second year Vietnam has been recognized as the world’s best golf destination and the fifth consecutive year as Asia’s best.

Asia’s Best Golf Destination award is part of World Golf Awards, held annually since 2014 and viewed as the most prestigious award in the golf tourism industry.

World Golf Awards celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism as a part of World Travel Awards.

Compared to other golf destinations like the U.S., New Zealand, China, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, Vietnam with luxurious and high-class service infrastructure that meet international standards has been attracting praise from golfers.

According to the organizers, despite the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the tourism industry in general and golf in particular, the 8th World Golf Awards still received a record number of votes from golfers around the world.

Data from Vietnam Professional Golf Association showed there were over 70,000 people playing golf as a leisure sport in the country in 2018, up from 10,000 in 2009. The country has more than 30 golf courses, many of international standard.
